Our work together will begin with a brief phone conversation where we discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, answer your questions, talk about fees, and see if we are a good fit for each other. At our initial session I will take a detailed life history, including how long you have been facing your current challenges, and we will discuss your goals for therapy. This is when we will pick a regular meeting time for our ongoing sessions and answer any remaining questions you have.

During our confidential sessions, we will discuss your concerns and their impact on your day-to-day functioning. We will explore the history of these concerns, and will practice "sitting with" and accepting feelings instead of jumping to act on them. Depending on your needs, homework is sometimes (though not always) incorporated into therapy. We will work together to develop strategies to solve problems, achieve goals, and overcome obstacles in a way that is congruent with your personal values. Over the course of therapy, you will come to understand yourself better and this knowledge will help you live, love, and work in a more fulfilling way.

Typically, we will meet on a weekly basis, though we will determine this together. There may be times when meeting more than once a week is recommended.  As you achieve your goals, we will drop to less frequent meetings until we both feel our work together is at an end. I will check in with you often so we can make adjustments to meeting frequency and therapeutic focus as needed.
